COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Purina awarded a $25,000 grant to Friends of the Animal Shelter to fund a new veterinary clinic as construction of the animal shelter on South Belt Highway moves ahead, with completion scheduled for summer (2026). KQ2
- ➤ AFL-CIO opened its Adopt-A-Family Gift Room on Wednesday morning to serve families with gifts that span clothing, household items, toys, and stocking stuffers. The program served 80 families and still awaits more adopters and donations to help the 22 families on its waitlist. KQ2
- ➤ For the Shop St. Joseph Holiday Program, a winning ticket was drawn and the shopper must verify their ticket at the Chamber office (3003 Frederick Ave) before 5 p.m. to claim a $10,000 prize plus $2,500 bonus; if not, a new number will be drawn at 5 p.m. on weekdays. St. Joseph Post

- ➤ California actress Kylee Levien found that filming A Chrismystery in St. Joseph brought cold weather paired with a warm community last year. She returned today for a special screening at the Trail Theater (her experience highlighted the town's cinematic charm). St. Joseph Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Registration is open for United Way KinderClub, a free kindergarten readiness program for incoming 2026-27 students. Sessions will be held at district elementary schools and at the Noyes Administration Building on Jan. 13 and Feb. 10 (5 to 6 p.m.), offering essential resources and a book for families.
