- ➤ After a fire on June 22 melted the frame and closed the building that was a long-time community landmark, crews demolished the old B and J Skate Center Tuesday afternoon at 6421 N. Belt Highway. B and J said it will redevelop the site—future plans will be shared soon—and donated funds from free Sunday skating sessions to support outings at Noyes Home for Children. KQ2
- ➤ A local women's group, Beauty From Ashes, has opened a donation drive to collect winter hats, gloves, scarves, socks and ear muffs to help local residents stay warm. Donation boxes are now at Ace Hardware, Dollar General, Hy-Vee, Samson's Thrift Store, the Belt Center — and both North and South Belt Walmart stores. KQ2
- ➤ On Tuesday, local organizations participated in Giving Tuesday to support families facing high food costs, with Second Harvest Community Food Bank—where each donated dollar provided up to six meals—joining efforts alongside partners like the St. Joseph YMCA and Salvation Army. - ➤ A petition in St. Joseph aims to trigger a state audit of the school district if it gathers at least 2,972 voter signatures. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of St. Joseph announced that contractors working for Missouri American Water will inspect over 16,000 homes and businesses for lead service lines as part of a federally required program. Workers will knock on doors from Monday through Saturday during daytime hours — leaving a door hanger if no one answers — and then schedule free lead line replacements if needed. KQ2

- ➤ Professional boxer — Katelyn Radtka — is asking the community for $100 donations to help fund her next fight after her debut loss at Showdown N Joetown.
