- ➤ Andrew County residents are wearing swimwear at nail salons and movie theaters to raise funds for a new pool by posting social media videos—an effort led by the Andrew County Aquatics Initiative and inspired by the Ice Bucket Challenge. They invite friends and family to join the fun and will continue fundraising until the end of the year. KQ2
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ St. Joseph is set to open its new Launch Pad where entrepreneurs will be able to turn their business ideas into reality. The center will soft launch on Dec. 1 and be fully operational by early January — backed by a physical infrastructure grant to the Chamber of Commerce. KQ2
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Nov. 24, the St. Joseph School District Board of Education voted to adopt Plan 4BR which merges Benton and Central High Schools—superintendent Ashly McGinnis said the change will ease staffing shortages, cut costs, and improve academic and extracurricular opportunities while a new high school is planned for the future. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ St. Joseph Griffons Ice Hockey held its alumni game on November 26 at Bode Ice Arena where each attendee brought a non-perishable item donated to Second Harvest Food Bank—returning players shared memories and lessons from past seasons. The team will host its biannual Try Hockey for Free event on December 6 from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. at Bode Ice Arena, giving local youth a chance to try hockey drills free of charge. KQ2
