- ➤ At the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce’s Chairman’s Breakfast, Jason Klindt from Evergy spoke on growth plans as the Chamber announced The Launch Pad at 801 Felix St to help local startups with flexible workspaces and business support. The innovative center, funded by a $100K grant from Missouri Technology Group and supported by the Show-Me Network — will have a soft opening on Dec. 1 and a grand opening in January. KQ2

- ➤ Nothing Bundt Cakes will soon open its first store at 5301 N. Belt Highway near GameStop and Panda Express—pedestrians already see a Baking Soon sign on the building while the company has not confirmed an official opening date. The bakery, known for its signature and seasonal cakes, adds a new dessert option for the community. KQ2
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Buchanan County Commissioners sent an email to SJSD urging the use of the long-range plan as falling enrollments and aging school buildings have forced funds away from student learning — stressing that a strong school system will support the city's economic future. The School Board held a work session on Nov. 17 and will hold a public comment session today before choosing a high school model by Nov. 24. KQ2

- ➤ The St. Joseph Police Department launched a new social media initiative on Nov. 3 that uses daily themes—like Monday Minute and Feature Friday—to build transparency and strengthen community trust. The series gives the public an inside look at the department and will expand on platforms in January. KQ2
