- ➤ United Way of Greater St. Joseph celebrated raising over 2 million dollars at a dinner on November 7—by Friday night the total reached $2,335,985 and supported 16 local Partner Agencies and initiatives. KQ2
- ➤ Missouri Western State University held its annual Walk for the Homeless on the first Friday of November to raise funds and support services for unhoused people in St. Joseph. Students led the event and cleaned downtown areas while local businesses contributed support (by offering free haircuts and hot chocolate). KQ2
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The MSHSAA Girls Volleyball State Championships ended Saturday afternoon at the renovated Civic Arena, bringing an estimated $2.7 million boost to local businesses as 20 teams, along with families and staff, visited and stayed overnight. Sports Commission Director Brett Esely said the event increased traffic at hotels, restaurants and shops — and more championships are set to boost the city, including a December weekend at Spratt Memorial Stadium.
