COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ St. Joseph Animal Shelter is facing a shortage of dog and cat food due to tough economic times— the shelter specifically needs dry dog food in brands like Purina One, Purina Pro Plan, and Diamond Naturals and accepts any wet food for cats, with donations taken Tuesday through Sunday from 1 PM to 5:30 PM or dropped off after notifying staff. Donations can also be shipped to 701 SW Lower Lake Road to support animal care. KQ2
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Amanda Wright faced tough challenges after her first liver transplant in 2017 and a second transplant in 2020, crediting transplant professionals for giving her a second chance. She now urges residents to join the organ donor registry—saying each donor can save up to eight lives. KQ2
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Starting in the 2025-26 school year, Missouri Western Athletics will oversee the Athletic Bands with Adrian Lowry as the new leader. The program will form multiple ensembles to perform at Griffon home games except Tennis and Golf—inviting current students, alumni and local musicians to join. KQ2
- ➤ Over the weekend, cheerleaders from St. Joseph Central High, Lathrop, and Savannah competed at the Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association State Championships. Central finished second in the 5A SMALL division, and Lathrop and Savannah also earned strong placements. KQ2
