- ➤ The YWCA upgraded its shelter bathrooms by converting community style ones into eight individual restrooms that give residents a private space. The renovation helps survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and shows a commitment to further improvements—next, the YWCA will update office spaces for overnight staff. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ United Way of Greater St. Joseph will hold its Annual Campaign Celebration on November 6 at the Hall of Fame Room at Spratt Stadium at Missouri Western State University from 5 to 7 p.m. Community members may join the event to recognize local generosity+tickets cost $20 per person or $150 for a table of eight. - ➤ Registration for Second Harvest Community Food Bank's annual Turkey Day event begins November 6th from 9 AM to 6 PM at their location (915 Douglas Street in St. Joseph), and 700 households will be served on a first-come, first-served basis with participants required to bring an ID. KQ2
- ➤ InterServ partnered with Southside Schools at Benton to host a trunk-or-treat event that offers families early holiday fun and provides information on local resources — the event makes it easier and safer for neighbors to gather. KQ2
- ➤ Savannah residents are working to raise funds for a new $5M aquatic center as their 61-year-old pool has become too costly to maintain; the group has raised $340,000 so far from over 30 local businesses & 350 individuals and aims to secure $500,000 by mid-November to match a grant. - ➤ St. Joseph Youth Alliance is teaming with Buchanan County Sheriff's Office and St. Joseph Police Department for a prescription drug take back event held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the East Hills Shopping Center parking lot by the former Sears location—attendees can bring controlled, non-controlled over-the-counter substances and sharps. - ➤ The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce and local businesses held a second annual event to thank educators in Buchanan County by delivering personalized gifts with $10 gift cards and sweet treats. Volunteers picked up the gifts at the Chamber before taking them to school principals—supporting local faculty with over $20,000 in purchases from 26 businesses. KQ2
