- ➤ The Evening Optimist Club honored four law enforcement officers during its ceremony in St. Joseph this week to thank them for their service. Trooper Aaron Mapel, Sergeant Chris McBane, Officer Kylie Meehan, and Sergeant Heather Annigan each said they were proud of their work—one officer noted the challenges of keeping computer systems running—while serving the community. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Today at Liberty North High School, the Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association Kansas City Regional competition ended with awards announced in 4A Large, JV Small, 2A Large, 5A Small and Large Coed divisions—St. Joseph Central won in the 5A Small category. Local cheerleading fans now have fresh results to celebrate. KQ2
- ➤ Runners took part in the St. Joseph Marathon on Saturday as the race grew to include both local athletes and those from afar — like Cooper Berry, a student at Northwest Missouri State, and Tina Lam who flew in from Alaska. Lam finished in St. Joseph and is headed for another race in Omaha today — showing that the event draws talent from many places. KQ2
