- ➤ United Way Of Greater St. Joseph hosted a meeting Monday to help caretakers find resources for families caring for someone over 60—discussing safe stair access and dementia care so no one faces these challenges alone. KQ2
- ➤ YWCA St. Joseph is planning many events in October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month to support survivors and honor those affected by domestic violence. The events include Hear My Voice on October 1, a Purple Leash Project on October 14, Empty Place at the Table displays during October 20–25, and an Outreach Resource Fair on October 24 with art entries accepted through September 29 and award nominations until September 26. - ➤ MoWest officials released Fall 2025 enrollment numbers after one month of classes and reported a 1.53% overall drop—Buchanan County student headcount increased 10.63% with graduate enrollment up 10.67% and undergraduate numbers rising 2.35%. KQ2
- ➤ North Central Missouri College in Trenton celebrated its 100th anniversary and unearthed a time capsule from its 75th anniversary while marking a record fall enrollment of 1,987 students. - ➤ St. Joseph School District announced it will seek a Tax Anticipation Note to cover October and November expenses because its reserve ratio is only 10.02% instead of the target 20%—Treasurer Dr. Robert Hedgecorth said the temporary loan will be repaid with local property tax revenue in December and January. - ➤ Suicide Prevention Month reminds Saint Joseph residents to check on loved ones when facing mental struggles as many teens and young adults suffer silently. SJSD coordinator Dr. Samantha Davis said that keeping communication open & showing non-judgmental support is key to helping those struggling in school and at home. KQ2
- ➤ Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph is offering free prostate cancer screenings this weekend—using simple blood tests to catch cancer early—and urging men 50 and older to protect their health. The screenings take place Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m., and both scheduled appointments and walk-ins are accepted. St. Joseph Post
