- ➤ Rolling Hills Library is hosting a moving sale on Friday from 12 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1908 North Belt Highway — it is selling books, chairs, tables, toys, and more as it clears out items for the new Riverside Branch, and a second sale is planned for November. KQ2
- ➤ Evergy employees volunteered on Thursday morning at Second Harvest Community Food Bank in St. Joseph — sorting bags for a campus cupboard program that provides food to local school pantries as part of their annual Impact Program supporting the community. KQ2
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Missouri Western State University is working to boost enrollment at its St. Joseph campus as President Elizabeth Kennedy said that once finalized, the expected rise of ten students will mark the first fall-to-fall increase since 2017 — a modest gain amid a declining local youth population. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of St. Joseph has been awarded $252,000 in federal TAP funding to improve pedestrian safety at three key crossings—St. Joseph Avenue at Krug Park, Hyde Park Avenue near local schools, and 22nd Street by Spring Garden Middle School, with the project costing $315,000 in total including a $63,000 city contribution. - ➤ St. Joseph officials are improving communication with residents and tracking city issues based on a survey; City Manager Mike Schumacher said the city is upgrading its website & social media to provide timely updates and gather feedback. St. Joseph Post
