- ➤ The East Hills Library closed yesterday at 3 p.m. because a water main break left it without water—and it is not expected to have water restored by this evening while all other library branches remain open. KQ2
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Officials at the Houlne Center on the Missouri Western campus plan to offer bio-manufacturing training courses for animal health workers soon—local companies like Nestle Purina, Elanco Animal Health, and Boehringer Ingelheim support the move. St. Joseph Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Kehoe has appointed Christopher Kendall as Platte County Treasurer today. Kendall, who served as interim county treasurer and is pastor at Salem Christian Church, previously worked as controller at the International Charolais Association in Kansas City and as a bank consultant for Paladin, LLC—his varied experience supports his new role. - ➤ Crews will shut down part of Frederick Avenue later this week starting 7 a.m. Wednesday for underground water line work by Missouri American Water—city officials say the closure between 15th and 17th Streets and Kemper Street will last until 5 p.m. Friday with additional work planned for the following week. - ➤ DeKalb County officials joined Polk, Audrain, Pike and Reynolds counties in filing a lawsuit against the Missouri Tax Commission to block a 15% increase in commercial property assessments due to the late timing—leaving no time for appeal; the suit, filed in Bolivar, challenges the state mandate to protect local control over property valuations.
