- ➤ Tipps Sports Bar hosted its inaugural dart tournament on Saturday afternoon at 3614 Mitchell Avenue to benefit Friends of the St. Joseph Animal Shelter — team Chad and Austin won while team Chris and Tyler finished second. KQ2
- ➤ Noyes Home for Children held its annual Take a Seat fundraiser at the Fulkerson Center on the Missouri Western campus and offered bidding on items such as signed Taylor Swift memorabilia, furniture made from Hyde Park wood, and a puppy. The event raised donations and informed local residents about the home’s mission to offer a safe alternative for children needing another chance—relying on community support. KQ2
- ➤ The fifth annual Flower Farm Day took place this weekend at Homeplace Fields where community members picked fresh bouquets from blooming fields — organized by the Windmeyer family and Nesting Goods — and enjoyed the scenic views. KQ2
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, kindergarteners in the school district will get free, one-year access to InspireU Children's Discovery Center through a gift from former health exec Lowell Kruse and his wife Leslie—over 700 families will benefit. - ➤ Tomorrow, September 15, the St. Joseph Safety and Health Council will host a free car seat safety check at Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm—child safety technicians will review installations for proper fit and recall status. KQ2
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Micro Wrestling Federation will perform at Good Times Event Center—located at 3414 South 22nd Street—in St. Joseph on Sunday, September 21, with the show running from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The team, known from a national reality show and TikTok fame, has been entertaining audiences since 2000. - ➤ The third annual St. Joseph Marathon is scheduled for two weeks from today and registration has drawn runners from over 20 states as well as local enthusiasts aiming to complete a lifelong goal.
