St. Joseph officials celebrated the new animal shelter at 3409 S.
Belt Highway last Friday during a ribbon cutting event. Councilmember Marty Novak (attending the ceremony) said the temperature-controlled facility for cats and dogs fulfills a long-awaited need in the community.
JoeTown 107.5's 26th Christmas for Kids Toy Drive runs Oct.
12-Nov. 20, asking locals to donate cash, toys, or gifts from wish lists to brighten children's holidays. The drive ends with a live Black Friday broadcast and a Christmas party on Dec. 3 for children in need.

High school football games in the area saw kickoff delays yesterday due to extreme heat.
