COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Pivotal Point Transitional Housing hosted its annual gala — held at Word of Life Church on Thursday night — to celebrate residents and raise funds for future services. Board President Tom Richmond said the themed event — Restore — highlighted the group’s commitment to help homeless individuals without government funding. KQ2
- ➤ The Clean Sweep program will run from October 1st to 7th in St. Joseph to let residents drop off yard waste, trash, and appliances free of charge during normal operating hours (weekdays 7am to 4:30pm and Saturday 7am to 2pm). Residents can use two full days during the year with multiple trips allowed on those days. KQ2
- ➤ United Way of Greater St. Joseph held a 2025 campaign kickoff that gathered local businesses and announced a pacesetter campaign which raised $970,506.40—top contributors included Altec Industries and Nestle Purina to support community programs. KQ2
- ➤ Second Harvest Community Food Bank is helping North Daviess R-III School District families after last week's gymnasium roof collapse—its team packed 80 food boxes that offer one to two weeks of meals. The boxes will be delivered tomorrow by the school district's bus company to families relying on school meals. KQ2
- ➤ Thursday afternoon, MoWest held a ribbon cutting at Hearnes Library — a space upgraded after years without change — where Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy and Library Director Sally Gibson explained the renovations now offer more room for both study and group work. KQ2
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A two-vehicle crash in northern Andrew County injured a 23-year-old Maryville woman and a 24-year-old St. Joseph man when the man failed to yield on Route B while crossing US 71—both were taken to Mosaic Life Care. KQ2

- ➤ The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Civic Leadership Academy where residents will experience a two-day immersion at the 139th Airlift Wing at Rosecrans — participants meet base leadership and learn about military operations and workforce opportunities. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ Three sitting council members—Michael Grimm, Randy Schultz, and Andrew Trout—have confirmed they will run for re-election next year and plan to file petitions at City Hall starting September 9, with candidates needing to meet required signature counts between October 7 and October 28. KQ2
