- ➤ The University of Missouri Extension is hosting its second annual Women in Agriculture night on August 21 at R/Farm Distillery in Mound City — a joint effort with local conservation groups and the NRCS. The event runs from 4 to 7:30 p.m. and includes an educational demonstration by soil health expert Luke Skinner from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. — with local vendors, food trucks, and a $5 admission fee. - ➤ LaTonya Williams remained school board president after a special meeting called last night—Kim Miller and local residents raised concerns about board issues, and after 90 minutes of discussion no vote was taken to replace her. St. Joseph Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mark and Kim Hubbard, local residents with cerebral palsy, raised concerns that several play areas do not meet ADA guidelines — city officials said they will work with residents on a plan to fix these issues while others have also spoken up. KQ2

- ➤ The Freudenthal Center for Parkinson's Disease held its 4th annual Unite and Fight gala at Stoney Creek Inn to help keep exercise classes and support groups free for people with Parkinson's—this event offers activities that may slow the disease's progression. KQ2
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Kansas City Chiefs extended George Karlaftis's contract and signed Trey Smith to a four-year deal during training camp in St. Joseph—marking key moves as the team nears the camp's end.
