- ➤ FOTAS opened its first art fair Saturday afternoon at Mokaska Coffee downtown to showcase art submitted by local supporters including 26 children’s entries—artwork that will remain on display until August 23 and be featured on new merchandise at the Show Me Jeep Club Jeep Show on August 17. KQ2
- ➤ Animal lovers gathered Saturday night at River Bluff Brewing in St. Joseph to support a fundraiser organized by River Bluff Brewing, Purina and Friends of the Animal Shelter ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs preseason game. The event featured adoptable pets, a raffle and $1 donations per draft pint of Arrowhead Red sold — the campaign will finish with a Tailgate Party on Sept. 5 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. KQ2
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A motorcyclist riding a 2022 Harley Davidson Ultra lost control on U.S. 36 near Cameron in DeKalb County just after 10 a.m. Saturday—he was transported to Mosaic Life Care and was not wearing a helmet. St. Joseph Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ InspireU hosted its first Back-to-School Bash in St. Joseph to give families a fun day with cookouts, crafts and dancing (10 days before school returns). The event may lead to similar future gatherings for holidays like Halloween and New Year's. KQ2

8-9 a.m. — St. Joseph Firefighter Memorial — Entry fee supports the Firefighter's Memorial — Participate in a 5K run/walk to honor local heroes and support the community.

5-7 p.m. — Stoney Creek Hotel St. Joseph — $25 — Celebrate the achievements of Ali Perry and fellow inductees at the St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame ceremony.
