- ➤ FOTAS is hosting its annual 'Puttin' for Mutts' golf scramble on August 23 for four-person teams paying a $300 fee with food like hot dogs and hamburgers provided. Sponsorship options — gold at $750, silver at $475, and bronze at $200 — are available to support the animal shelter. KQ2
- ➤ Nestlé Purina workers volunteered 310 hours during the 24th annual Purina Cares Day as about 150 employees helped more than eight local nonprofits in Saint Joseph by cleaning, painting, serving meals, packing food baskets, and other tasks. They supported groups like Second Harvest, InterServ, United Cerebral Palsy, YWCA, the St. Joseph School District, and the Open Door Food Kitchen—demonstrating a long-standing commitment to the community. - ➤ Buchanan County Fair Board and County Commission have chosen a local contractor (Al J. Mueller Construction Company) to build a new fairground near East Buchanan Middle School in Easton after more than 40 years without one. The planned 20-acre site, with an estimated cost of ($1.6 million), will host local events and support 4-H and FFA members as work begins in mid-August and the fairground opens by April 1. KQ2
