- ➤ Residents on Westgate Drive honored the United States and its veterans by displaying 16 American flags on houses. Westgate Home Owners Association co-president John Mallon (a local leader) said two veteran residents straighten the flags daily (a daily tribute to service). KQ2
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, former school board member Kenneth Reeder pleaded guilty to a peace disturbance charge from an incident in August 2024 after an officer stopped him at 12:42 a.m. near McArthur Drive and West Highland Avenue for an alleged weapons violation and DWI, and he received a $250 fine plus court costs. - ➤ St. Joseph police investigated the suspicious death of a 43-year-old man found dead Sunday night around 8:30 in a garage on the 2100 block of 8th Street (his identity has not been released) and an autopsy remains pending. St. Joseph Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ St. Joseph School District reported that its operating fund reserve ratio—at 10.02%—fell short of the board policy target of 20% because federal funding was delayed and spending on certified staff and capital expenses went over budget. The assistant superintendent said revised figures including federal deposits will be available in October as administrators work to trim the budget in coming years. KQ2
