ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, a 51-year-old from Utica, Nebraska drove a Honda Crosstour that turned into northbound I-29 and was hit by a Ford Focus driven by a 21-year-old from Savannah, Missouri, causing the Crosstour to overturn and leaving its driver and a female passenger injured — the Focus driver was not hurt.  KQ2

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Tori Blevins announced The Metropolitan, a local event space, will close after Sept. 30—she wants more time with her 4-year-old boy and to manage rising costs. Customers said the space brought the community together and described the closure as bittersweet.  KQ2

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Allied Arts Council is hosting its 12th Annual Sculpture Walk downtown with 14 whimsical sculptures for visitors to vote on—votes end in January 2026. Executive director Jessica Agnew said the event brings art and people together.  KQ2

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Mosaic Life Care Foundation will offer STEAM camps for third to eighth graders at EmpowerU in downtown St. Joseph from July 14 through August 1 to provide hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Sessions will run from 9am to noon and 12:30 to 3:30 pm and include activities like Lego robots, Minecraft education, and Rocket League Esports—designed to spark early interest in future career paths.  St. Joseph Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Grain Belt Express spokesman Martin Grego accused Attorney General Andrew Bailey of playing politics with his legal move to cancel a green energy transmission line—he said Bailey demanded documents from Invenergy amid concerns that the company misled the Missouri Public Service Commission. Grain Belt said it is reviewing the demand while project development continues despite pending eminent domain actions and promises to save Missouri customers up to $18 billion.  St. Joseph Post
  • Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has asked for documents from Grain Belt Express to check whether its planned green energy line in north-central Missouri may use land in ways that do not help locals. He said the project might misuse eminent domain and has urged the Public Service Commission to review the job and cost estimates provided.  St. Joseph Post
