- ➤ Miss Missouri Courtney Rowe, competing as Miss Kansas City at the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, said her week was filled with strong emotions and heart palpitations when the top five were announced—she will now compete in the Miss America pageant in September. St. Joseph Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Nursing Department at Missouri Western State University and its student volunteers hosted an annual training camp at Murphy Hall in Saint Joseph where children learned how to monitor heart and lung sounds, take temperatures, and practice CPR + Buchanan County EMS and Lifeline Eagle showed how emergency vehicles work. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City Council reviewed community survey results on Monday—gathering feedback from over 600 residents—and noted calls for better police service, code enforcement and improved communication. City Manager Mike Schumacher said department heads will report monthly on progress as the Council meets at 2:00 p.m. July 1 to set new goals. KQ2
- ➤ The Missouri Department of Corrections said the Western Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center is fully air conditioned—although a chiller in Housing Unit 1 is under repair, the cooling systems remain functional.
