- ➤ Kovac's Fireworks, a local fixture since the 1980s, opened its season last Friday, June 20 — with most orders placed before new tariff rules took effect. The fireworks run will continue until July 10 at its long-time location on South East King Hill Road. KQ2
- ➤ Rickey Stanley reopened Kingdom Cardz on June 20 and expanded the shop to triple its size for buying and selling sports collectibles in Saint Joseph — the store now serves collectors of all ages. KQ2

- ➤ Tomorrow night, the National Pony Express Re Ride will arrive in St. Joseph at the Patee House Museum as riders begin a ceremony at 6 p.m. and return by 7:30 p.m. (This 40th anniversary event honors the historic relay of commemorative letters across 1,900 miles.) St. Joseph Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Spire Gas Company is sponsoring 10 scholarships so that families who cannot afford the $95 fee can send children aged 5 to 7 to Safety Town sessions, where they learn to navigate city streets and homes safely. The scholarships cover the June 23rd–26th and July 7th–10th sessions, a move announced by Frank Till of the St. Joseph Safety Council. KQ2

- ➤ The St. Joseph Sports Commission announced the 4th Annual St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame Holiday Hoops Classic at Civic Arena from December 18 to December 20—featuring 17 high school basketball games presented by United Fiber.
