COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Second Harvest Community Food Bank and K Jo 105.5 are hosting the Canned Film Festival at Regal Hollywood 10 Theater in St. Joseph, where every Tuesday and Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. until August 6 families can watch a movie by donating a nonperishable food item (or paying $1) and receive a Texas Roadhouse coupon for a free kids meal (coupon available with each donation).  KQ2
  • Rachel and Gene Eckert had their wedding in April at Mosaic Life Care when staff arranged to hold the ceremony in Glenda's hospital room so she could be with her family. The couple now keeps their anniversary in January to honor Glenda’s important role in their lives.  KQ2

CULTURE NEWS

  • Colt Skouby will host Retro Con this Saturday, June 14 at the Good Times Event Center in St. Joseph, where pop culture fans can join a cosplay contest, enjoy animal adoptions with the Nodaway County Humane Society, and watch panels featuring a Hollywood movie creator and other content creators. The event will also include a 21+ after-party later that day — general and VIP tickets cost between $2 and $10.  KQ2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Missouri Department of Transportation will close east and westbound U.S. Route 36 ramps in St. Joseph on June 16 and 17. On June 16, ramps to and from Route AC and Interstate 29 will be closed — on June 17, ramps connecting with U.S. Route 169, 28th, Hill Top and 22nd streets will be closed intermittently between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.  KQ2
  • The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce will host local legislators at the Public Affairs Coffee on June 26 at 7:30 a.m. at the Stoney Creek Hotel—legislators will share their views on the recent legislative session in Jefferson City with a $15 fee for Chamber members and $20 for the general public.  KQ2
