- ➤ The Friends of the Animal Shelter is asking residents in St. Joseph to give feedback on its Spay It Forward program that offers spay and neuter assistance. - ➤ St. Joseph’s Allied Arts Council is hosting its 12th annual Sculpture Walk, a year-long exhibit in downtown that features 14 sculptures by artists from across North America (theme: Whimsical Walk with the Arts). Locals can vote for their favorite piece by dropping ballots at designated boxes or at the Allied Arts office and Convention and Visitors Bureau. KQ2
- ➤ The Juneteenth Planning Committee and partners are hosting Juneteenth 2025 in St. Joseph — the celebration features a theatrical production of Our Town at the Missouri Theater from June 13 to 15 and a 3 Point Shootout on June 15, a Gala on June 19, a Family Festival and Vendor Fair on June 20 and 21, a parade beginning at 10:00 a.m. from Bode Middle School to the Bartlett Center with a Fashion Show on June 21, and it concludes with a Family Picnic on June 22. - ➤ Missouri Western State University reinstated its track and field program after receiving anonymous support, and athletic director Andy Carter said the school is now in talks to quickly build a new facility to improve the experience for student athletes—details of the talks remain ongoing. - ➤ Monday night the Board of Education discussed an updated long range plan as Superintendent Gabe Edgar explained that the district will operate with two high schools while realigning Benton and other schools into new middle school and repurposing models. The plan retains Lafayette and Central and proposes closing or repurposing Hyde, Pickett and Pershing Elementary—with a formal vote scheduled on June 23. KQ2

- ➤ The Missouri Department of Conservation closed the shooting ranges at Pigeon Hill Conservation Area indefinitely because staff found misuse that endangered public safety — additional patrols and security measures have been added as MDC urged visitors to report unsafe activity. KQ2
- ➤ At Monday night's City Council meeting, council members read a proposal to raise sewer fees by 3% starting July 1 and another 3% next July to fund wastewater upgrades—Council will hold a second reading on Monday, June 23rd at 5:30 p.m. on the third floor of City Hall. KQ2
