- ➤ Rolling Hills Library celebrated a major construction milestone this week when the final steel beam—salvaged from the old North Belt Library branch—was placed in the framework of the new Riverside Library branch with nearly 300 community members signing it. Construction began in January and crews will soon work to enclose the building ahead of its spring opening. KQ2

- ➤ Late Saturday evening, police investigated a shooting at the Randolph Street and St. Joseph Avenue intersection in north St. Joseph — a passenger vehicle fired at an SUV, leaving a woman with a foot wound before she was taken to the hospital. St. Joseph Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ St. Joseph Parks and Rec will launch its annual Parks Passport on June 1 to encourage residents to explore ten parks with hidden QR codes that track visits and award weekly prizes. The program will spotlight lesser known parks and offer a grand prize drawing for anyone who visits all the parks—Parks Director Jeff Atkins said. KQ2
- ➤ Ivan Klopfenstein, who has served with the St. Joseph Fire Department for 23 years (as a firefighter, first responder, and captain), was sworn in as the new fire chief at Tuesday night's City Council meeting. KQ2
- ➤ Officials in St. Joseph are considering a Burns & McDonnell study that will raise sewer rates by 3% annually over the next two years—adding about $1.85 a month in 2025 and $0.94 in 2026 to the average $65.70 bill—to cover rising state and federal regulation costs.
