Benton High School's graduating class of 1952 held their reunion at King Hill Overlook today with over ten alumni returning after 73 years — they honored lost classmates with a balloon release and shared hope that Benton will remain open.

Rolling Hills Library in St. Joseph will launch its summer reading program on June 1 that helps readers build skills—participants who read or listen to 10 books or join activities will earn a free book and enter a drawing for a prize basket.

The program will run through July 31 at the library’s branches on North Belt Highway and West Main Street in Savannah.

The Savannah Aquatic Center opened for its final summer season on Saturday after city officials announced that its 60 years of service had come to an end due to high maintenance costs and aging facilities.

Residents in Savannah and St. Joseph expressed worry over losing a public pool option and hope local leaders plan a replacement—using Maryville's example as a guide.

State Rep. Shields said her child care incentive package failed in the legislative session once again after lawmakers pushed extra demands—she said the Senate objections stopped the measure from moving forward.

She plans to regroup the package this summer to try a different approach that lets businesses and individuals help with child care costs.
