- ➤ Cole and Sarah McCauley are partnering with the local Mustangs to raise funds for Casa de Mi Padre in Guatemala—where the team will host a 50/50 fundraiser during the June 6 game. They have raised money to complete about 60 to 65 percent of a construction project to build a family-style house split into three smaller homes for the 23 children at the orphanage. KQ2
- ➤ The Friends of the Animal Shelter held their 11th Run/Walk for the Paws 5k, attracting 508 participants and raising over $17,000—record numbers that show strong local support. - ➤ A St. Joseph man was charged with third-degree felony assault after allegedly stabbing a 56-year-old during an argument near 13th and Frederick on Thursday night—Michael L. Larimer admitted to getting out of his vehicle with a knife, left the scene, and bond was denied. KQ2
- ➤ A suspect was arrested after a stabbing Thursday night in St. Joseph when a 56-year-old man was seriously injured on the 1300 block of Frederick Avenue—police located the suspect’s vehicle at 8:46 p.m. near 22nd and Messanie and the injured man was taken to Mosaic Life Care. KQ2

- ➤ The Missouri Department of Conservation temporarily closed the shooting range at Pigeon Hill Conservation for range improvements while leaving the rest of the park open but restricting vehicle access past the gate—other local sites offer opportunities for target shooting. KQ2
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Buchanan County will expand its Youth Detention Center from six to 24 beds as County Commissioner Scott Nelson said the county waits for clarity on who will pay for medical care if a youth gets sick or injured. He added the county will send out an RFQ for construction managers — a move that comes as St. Joseph Police Chief Paul Luster stressed the need for more juvenile detention space. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ Sen Schmitt questioned Air Force leaders in Washington about why the 139th Airlift Wing at Rosecrans Memorial Airport still flies older C130H planes instead of receiving new C130Js—he asked for a commitment to secure one.
