COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the St. Joseph Police Department and Lodge 3 of the Fraternal Order of Police delivered dozens of donuts to schools in St. Joseph and Buchanan County to thank teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week — officers donated the treats with their own funds to show support for hardworking educators —.  KQ2

CRIME NEWS

  • A St. Joseph man named Cody R. Severe, 23, was charged with theft and forgery after more than $12,000 was taken from someone's bank account when 12 checks were forged—11 were cashed and one was seized—after the case was reported on April 25, and he was arrested on April 27.  KQ2
  • St. Joseph police said 42-year-old Joshua Littrell was a suspect in burglaries at three downtown stores and Mark’s Tire and Automotive on March 10th — he was held on a burglary warrant from Mission in Johnson County, Kansas — and he faced additional cases from Ray County and Kansas City authorities.  St. Joseph Post

  • Patrick and Shira Hemke finished a new mural at Taco Bandido on St. Joseph Avenue and Middleton Street—paying tribute to a part of town that has shaped local life. The artwork now adorns the restaurant at 1601 St. Joseph Avenue and highlights the enduring tradition of this locally owned business since 1961.  KQ2

SPORTS NEWS

  • Noah Cameron, a St. Joseph native who made his MLB debut for the Kansas City Royals on April 30, had his jersey sell quickly at Rally House and store staff said they may order more if needed.  KQ2
  • St. Joseph native Royals pitcher Noah Cameron made an impressive MLB debut last Wednesday and will pitch for AAA Omaha Tuesday night against the Louisville Bats. He has a record of 2 wins and 0 losses and a 3.22 ERA this season.  KQ2
  • Corey Bertini stepped down as head coach of Benton High School football after two seasons (with a 4-16 record) to accept a job in the Kansas City area. The school is now searching for a new coach.  KQ2
