- ➤ St. Joseph's Parks and Recreation and the Missouri Department of Conservation will host National Kids to a Park Day on Saturday, May 16 at Corby Pond. The event will offer free fishing lessons and gear for kids (those under 15 must have an adult present) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. St. Joseph Post
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Allied Arts Council will host the annual Beer Walk for the Arts on Saturday, May 16 from 2 to 5 p.m. in Fairleigh Place (historic neighborhood) where participants sample craft beers and view local art to support the Arts Fund. St. Joseph Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Missouri Western State University President Elizabeth Kennedy will step down on June 30, 2026, after nearly six years in office. The board will begin searching for an interim president while her tenure is noted for boosting nursing and workforce programs. St. Joseph Post
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The St. Joseph Country Club will host the NCAA DII Women's Central Regional golf tournament next Monday through Wednesday with 96 players competing for a trip to the nationals. Local teams from Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri State will take part in the free-to-attend event. St. Joseph Post
