  • Olympic gold medalist Leah Amico visited St. Joseph at the Civic Arena for the 14th annual Mayor's prayer breakfast during the National Day of Prayer and urged locals to lead with faith and perseverance. She shared lessons from her Team USA softball career — emphasizing that every voice counts.  St. Joseph Post
  • The YMCA of St. Joseph met its city funding goal for the aquatic center with over 230 pledges and will keep fundraising to build a modern facility. It will present project plans to the City Council (May 12) for further review.  KQ2

CULTURE NEWS

  • St. Joseph Performing Arts Association will use 816 Live as its stage name for shows while keeping its official name to honor its history and attract more visitors — the new season starts in September with Randy Travis at the Missouri Theatre.  St. Joseph Post
  • The Performing Arts Association in Saint Joseph unveiled its 2025 to 2026 season lineup that features country music, Irish dancing, comedy, and artistic shows. Season tickets are now available and single tickets will go on sale on May 26 by calling the box office at (816) 279-1225.  KQ2
  • Museum Director Eric Fuson announced that the first ever Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art Golf Tournament will take place next week on Monday to raise funds for the museum. Golf entries cost $90 per player — $360 per team, and limited spaces and sponsorship opportunities remain available.  St. Joseph Post

  • Spire Damage Prevention Manager Alan Meyer said homeowners must call 8-1-1 before they dig this spring to have utility lines marked by law and keep a safe 24-inch distance—this free service helps protect both workers and the community.
