EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Saint Joseph Public Library will host a nine-week summer course that teaches teens self-development skills & leadership insights with career exposure. Classes for 11th and 12th graders run Mondays at the downtown branch and Thursdays at various locations in June and July, with applications due May 19. St. Joseph Post
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Missouri American Water has issued a boil advisory for drinking and cooking water for parts of the belt north of Frederick & for areas like North Shoppes and Country Club today. Residents must boil their water for three minutes for the next 48 hours. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ Pet owners are urged to protect their animals against fleas and ticks as warm weather continues today; Melanie Barnes of Friends of the Animal Shelter advises contacting a vet to choose the best prevention for each pet’s habits. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ Starting next month, the city will offer rabies vaccines ($5), combination vaccines ($10) and pet microchips ($10) at clinics held at Lindbergh Elementary on May 4, Hosea Elementary on May 5, Church of the Nazarene on May 7, Skaith Elementary on May 12 and Mark Twain Early Learning Center on May 14.
