  • Area residents returned unused or expired prescription pills, sharps, and inhalers at the bi-annual Prescription Drug Take Back event held at East Hills Shopping Center. The Buchanan County Sheriff's Department, St. Joseph Police Department plus Youth Alliance Partners for Prevention collected about 630 pounds of pills, 220 pounds of sharps and syringes, and 35 pounds of inhalers for safe disposal.  KQ2

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local readers celebrated Independent Bookstore Day last Saturday by visiting The Story Collective at 114 South 7th Street—featuring story time with local talent Will Stuck, free audio and print book giveaways, and special purchase gifts, with owner Ashley Dawson saying the event inspires her to keep growing downtown support. This annual event highlights the community’s appreciation for independent businesses.  KQ2
  • The Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art hosted its annual Pot of Gold Gala in St. Joseph to support the museum's upkeep and art programs, celebrating 47 years of fundraising with a Secret Agent Soirée theme that featured dinner, a raffle, and a silent auction including a signed Willie Nelson guitar+ organizers expect a slight increase over last year’s $60,000.  KQ2
