- ➤ M'Shoogy's animal rescue has received a $10,500 grant from the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri—provided by the Mary Margaret Hodgin Fund—to build larger pens that give rescued cats and dogs more room to run and socialize. - ➤ In April, United Way of Greater St. Joseph hosted its first Taste of United Way meeting to honor National Autism Awareness Month — local health organizations discussed challenges and the need for more autism resources. KQ2

- ➤ A man from Northridge, California was sentenced to two years in prison after causing an emergency landing at Kansas City International Airport on an American Airlines flight in February 2022—he assaulted a police officer while trying to escape custody. KQ2
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Benton High School’s Speech and Debate team grew quickly from a small group to over 60 students competing this season. The team will send several students to state and national events this spring and helps them build confidence in public speaking. KQ2
