ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident in Andrew County just after 12:20 p.m. Wednesday when a Gower man riding a 1997 Harley Davidson Sportster made a left turn and was sideswiped by a St. Joseph man riding a 2015 Harley Davidson FXDL on Business 71 four miles south of Savannah, and both were transported to Mosaic Hospital (neither was wearing a helmet).  St. Joseph Post
  • An 80-year-old Weatherford woman driving a 2024 Ford F350 was injured just before 11 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 29 fifteen miles west of Savannah when her pickup struck a tree—she was taken to Mosaic Life Care by EMS.  St. Joseph Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Over 600 high school students attended a career fair at the Rosecrans Air National Guard Base in St. Joseph this week where they learned about more than 50 job options in fields like aviation, engineering, cyber and medical. Airmen and recruiters explained career paths and hands-on work—helping students explore military and civilian opportunities.  KQ2

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lucas Munzlinger of Midwestern Storm Trackers told KQ2 meteorologist Vanessa Alonso about his storm chasing work that studies severe weather for science and personal adventure, and KQ2 will air a Severe Weather Special after 6 p.m. today to share his insights. This report shows how local storm chasers help explain the risks and rewards of studying nature.  KQ2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Missouri Public Service Commission is holding a public hearing in St. Joseph on June 4 at City Hall—customers can ask questions about Spire Missouri Inc.'s request to raise rates by about 15% to help cover rising costs and secure a 14% revenue boost.  KQ2
  • Buchanan County is working to secure land for a fairgrounds at the Easton school grounds when East Buchanan School District moves its middle school to Gower. Presiding Commissioner Scott Nelson said the county will start work in the summer and is in talks with neighboring property owners—while the city of Easton shows strong support.  St. Joseph Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • Samaritan Counseling Center in St. Joseph is hosting a substance abuse recovery run/walk called 'Let's Taco Bout It' that will begin near Bode Ice Arena at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19. The event will feature speakers, recovery information and commemorative t-shirts, and registration fees support services for uninsured residents (organizer Christi Vieth said the event strengthens community dialogue).  KQ2
