- ➤ Parade organizer Pat Jones said the Northside Parade originally scheduled for this Saturday is postponed to May 17th due to a miscommunication among the City, Parks Department and St. Joseph Police Department. Participants, including graduating seniors who will lead the parade, will meet at 11th and Grand at 10 a.m. along the same route. KQ2
- ➤ Today, the St. Joseph Sertoma Club was honored by its international board with a $5,000 award for 111 years of community service—its programs include speech and hearing support. - ➤ Gabriel Paredes, 24, was convicted under Valentine's law for aggravated fleeing in a motor vehicle after he sped away during a St. Joseph traffic stop on January 2nd and crashed into an embankment — his conviction is the first case tried under the law that raises penalties for fleeing suspects. - ➤ The Missouri Air National Guard's 139th Airlift Wing at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base began a career fair on Tuesday and it is ongoing today from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. More than 650 students registered to meet Airmen offering over 50 career fields — including security, aviation, civil engineering, and aircraft maintenance — and tour a C-130 Hercules cargo aircraft. - ➤ Missouri Gov. Kehoe’s plan to add $50 million to a scholarship program for private and religious schools was cut from the budget by the Senate Appropriations Committee—Chairman Lincoln Hough said he prioritized fully funding public schools. The committee also reduced funds for Capitol expansion and staffing, and concerns over federal Medicaid reimbursement remain as budget decisions continue. St. Joseph Post
