COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Emmanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church held a free event Saturday morning in mid-town to offer household goods, clothing, canned foods — and breakfast with listening and prayers for those in need. Craig Curtis said the church holds the event every other month to share its resources with the community. KQ2
- ➤ The St. Joseph Youth Alliance hosted its annual Children's Fair on Tuesday at the Civic Arena and gave children a chance to boost fine and gross motor skills while local businesses engaged with families. The fair continued on Tuesday night from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. KQ2
- ➤ The St. Joseph downtown Sertoma club received a $5,000 check from Sertoma International for celebrating 100 years of service—an honor given to clubs with a long history. The club, which has been part of the community for 111 years, will vote on which local agency will benefit from the funds. KQ2
- ➤ The YMCA held its Pedal for the Pool event on Monday morning in St. Joseph and raised almost $29,000—far surpassing its $5,000 goal to support plans for a new aquatic center. Volunteers, including the Central and Savannah swim teams, pedaled several miles as they helped build toward the center’s $15,000,000 target by the end of the month. KQ2

- ➤ Two new hotels and a conference center will soon be built on a vacant lot on the southeast corner of Fredrick and Woodbine. - ➤ Rick Gehring, a former board member, announced his sudden resignation from the St. Joseph School District Board in a Facebook post today and said he made the decision after much reflection to ease his personal burden.
