- ➤ The City Council approved a bill on Monday night to provide $4,000 for the River Bluff Trails Festival — the event set to run at Remington Nature Center from May 16th to May 18th. Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Kempf said the funds will cover tourism and promotion expenses including exhibitions and rider training. KQ2
- ➤ The YWCA announced the Women of Excellence Awards Luncheon and Fundraiser will be held on June 18th at the Civic Arena at 11:30 a.m. with local business owner Jennifer Milbourne as host and guest speaker Mary Messner—2024 Kansas City Woman of Impact Winner—and the list of 2025 nominees to be announced later. - ➤ Yesterday marked the start of Sexual Assault Awareness Month as the YWCA in St. Joseph began hosting events to support survivors. The shelter’s clothing drive—open at 304 N. 8th Street and drop-offs available at First Option Bank at 3702 Faraon Street—runs until April 28 while community members will join weekly Teal Tuesday events. - ➤ On Tuesday at 5 p.m., a father and his three children were taken to Mosaic after a Ford Explorer ran a stop sign on Hickory and hit a silver Chrysler that stopped in a field at 6th and Hickory—police said all passengers are being checked for injuries. KQ2
- ➤ A woman aged 27 from Princeton was injured just before 9 p.m. Monday when her 2014 Ford Focus swerved to avoid another vehicle and struck an embankment on MO 6, five miles west of Jamesport in Daviess County—EMS transported her to Cameron Regional Medical Center. St. Joseph Post

- ➤ Tannah Buhman of St. Joseph has been named Andrew County Circuit Clerk by Gov. Mike Kehoe after serving as interim Deputy Court Clerk under the Presiding Judge. She previously worked as a patient care representative for Mosaic Life Care + holds certifications as a Certified Nurse Assistant and Certified Medication Technician. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ St. Joseph Public Works Director Abe Forney announced the landfill will expand with a new cell adding 470,000 cubic yards of capacity after state approval allowed expedited work on Cell 8 where M-Con will spread clay, install a liner, and add leachate piping with DNR approval expected around July to August—city workers have already started preparing Cell 9 to prevent future capacity issues. - ➤ Congressman Sam Graves and Congressman Tracey Mann introduced a bill that would let the Southwestern Power Administration form a revolving fund — the Fund Establishment Act — to help slow sudden power rate spikes in rural areas. The measure aims to keep energy costs steady for local electric cooperatives and town utilities during natural disruptions. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ St. Joseph City Council passed a resolution to support the school district's Proposition 2 bond issue that will be on the April 8 ballot. It was pulled from the March 17 agenda by an 8—1 vote but later reappeared and passed unanimously on Monday night, and Board of Education President LaTonya Williams said the change meant a lot for the district.
