EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The United Way of St. Joseph is accepting scholarship applications for summer 2026 for early care teachers in local programs. Applicants must submit forms by 12:00 p.m. on April 10 to be considered for the program (Success By 6 initiative). St. Joseph Post
- ➤ Missouri House passed the spending bill on Thursday to reallocate over $1 billion for colleges, including a 24% cut for Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. The plan, which ties state aid to enrollment, now faces strong Senate opposition. St. Joseph Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Buchanan County Sheriff's Office earned its Blue Shield designation for the second year from the Missouri Department of Public Safety — a recognition of its commitment to public safety through a competitive reapplication process. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ Starting Monday, March 30, northbound Heartland Road near Mosaic Life Care will allow only emergency vehicles (ambulances, police, and fire) between Faraon Street and the hospital's ER entrance to support concrete repairs; drivers must use alternate routes. St. Joseph Post
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The City Health Department and school district are partnering to hold in-school vaccination clinics for about 600 seventh graders and high school juniors missing required immunizations. Clinics will run on March 31, April 2, April 7, and April 9 at local schools (review consent forms for vaccine options). St. Joseph Post
