- ➤ Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe proposed a flat funding model for higher education while a House Budget Committee plan could cut Missouri Western's core funding by about $7 million. MoWest has formed a Regional Advocacy Coalition to urge lawmakers to consider the proposal. St. Joseph Post

- ➤ Missouri Department of Conservation with local forestry groups will hold the 2026 Callery Pear Buyback program, letting residents trade invasive trees for a free native tree; register online from March 16 to April 16 and pick up your tree on April 21 at sites including St. Joseph.
