COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Pony Express Museum will host Family Day next week—offering free admission, breakfast from 8—10 a.m., and interactive activities like roping lessons, quilting, and button making, along with day camp sign-ups and tours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  St. Joseph Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • Missouri Western State University School of Fine Arts hosts its 19th Annual Jazz Festival starting at 8 a.m. today with 18 ensembles performing at Blum 219 and the Fulkerson Center. The event includes panel critiques, clinics, and a 6:30 p.m. concert (guest David Dickey funded by the university arts society) with free admission.  St. Joseph Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Community groups hosted a forum last night at Fireman's Hall (805 S. 36th St.) where six School Board candidates introduced their visions and answered questions linking community concerns with plans for local schools.  KQ2
  • The St. Joseph Police Department along with the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office will host an eight-week law enforcement academy from March 31 through May 26 at the Law Enforcement Center at 501 Faraon for up to 30 local residents - the program is designed for outreach, not recruitment.  St. Joseph Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The SJFD has been serving since 1865 and now handles more calls than ever with modern upgrades — fire chief Ivan Klippenstein said his team works long 24-hour shifts to provide community assistance in St. Joseph.  KQ2

  • The Mustangs announced three new players — Brayden Luikart, Aron Harrington, and Boston Bruce — to join the 2026 roster, adding talent to an already strong team. Their season opens Wednesday, May. 27.  KQ2
