- ➤ Friends of the Animal Shelter is hosting the 'Raise Your Paws for the Cause' fundraiser on Feb. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center; guests may choose a dinner and auction combo for $65 or join the auction for $20, with funds supporting shelter care. St. Joseph Post
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Savannah was chosen to be featured in Missouri Humanities' digital storytelling initiative, Show Me 250, after receiving (16,693) votes in a month-long contest. The project will share local heritage through podcasts and short films celebrating 250 years of American history. KQ2

- ➤ Bob Long, director of Jazz Studies at MoWest, has been named the 2026 Jazz Educator of the Year at the Missouri Music Conference. He teaches saxophone and jazz improvisation and leads ensembles including the Golden Griffons Marching Band (a highlight of his career). KQ2

- ➤ The Savannah boys wrestling team won the Throwdown in Joetown tournament this past weekend in Saint Joseph — finishing with 200 points and multiple top placements across weight classes. KQ2
