CULTURE NEWS

  • The upcoming President’s Day Maker Faire at inspireU will offer over ten interactive activity stations including a Slime Bar and Cowtown Donuts (online tickets are $20, with lower rates for members), giving families a creative way to celebrate at 521 Felix Street.  St. Joseph Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Super Science Saturday will take place Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at MoWest campus Remington/Agenstein Hall, offering hands-on science activities for families with tickets at $5 per person and free entry for children 5 and under — an event hosted by St. Joseph Museums.  KQ2
  • Leadership Northwest Missouri selected 20 emerging and established leaders from across a 19-county region during a two-day retreat at Conception Abbey on Jan. 21-22. The program will finish with a graduation ceremony on July 16 in Jamesport.  St. Joseph Post
  • The school board reviewed Plan 4BR at a Jan. 26 meeting and detailed the $678,000 cost for reconfiguring classrooms, relocating playground equipment (estimated at $150,000) and updating restroom fixtures as schools convert, while teacher relocation costs remain undecided.  KQ2

  • Buchanan County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan to protect residents from natural hazards and invites input at a meeting on Tuesday, April 21 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mo-Kan Regional Council, 224 North 7th St.  St. Joseph Post
  • MoDOT is planning highway maintenance and bridge replacement projects across Northwest Missouri from today through various dates in 2026, affecting travel on I-29, Gene Field Road Bridge, and several local routes. Drivers should follow detour signs and work zone instructions.  St. Joseph Post
  • Mosaic’s Pat Dillon will be honored today at Great Northwest Day at the Missouri State Capitol as community leaders from 19 counties gather to highlight Northwest Missouri’s priorities.  KQ2
