- ➤ Brent Martin, a longtime voice at KFEQ, retired on Dec. 31 after 45 years in broadcasting; he is remembered for award-winning reporting and close community ties (he was presented a congressional record by Rep. Sam Graves). KQ2
- ➤ Voices of Courage Child Advocacy Center introduced its new facility dog, Coco—a 2-year-old yellow lab who comforts children during therapy sessions. Director Carrie Watkins said Coco, named after tennis star Coco Gauff, has participated in 20 forensic interviews since starting in September. KQ2
- ➤ Young at Heart Resources launches the Give 5 Program to connect retirees with volunteer opportunities through classes from Mar. 3 to Mar. 12 at the Joyce Raye Patterson 50+ Activity Center in St. Joseph (free meals provided), and participants must complete at least five volunteer hours. - ➤ Nothing Bundt Cakes marked its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning at the Shoppes at North Village. The bakery opened Dec. 18, 2025 and will debut a dark chocolate raspberry pop-up flavor starting Feb. 2. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ Launch Pad held its grand opening Wednesday afternoon at 113 N. 9th Street to provide a new hub for local entrepreneurs. Kristi Bailey from the Chamber said the new space supports job growth and brings fresh startup talent to the area. KQ2

- ➤ St. Joseph Fire Department has issued safety tips to prevent home heating fires & cooking-related incidents by advising residents to turn off appliances, move combustible items away from heat sources, and test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors regularly. St. Joseph Post
