- ➤ Pivotal Point Transitional Housing received a large donation of home decorations from the now-closed Kirkland's. The items are being sorted to furnish 33 apartments and help residents transition out of homelessness. KQ2

- ➤ St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce has opened Launch Pad, a new downtown co-working space for local entrepreneurs that now offers classes, office resources, and networking opportunities (its soft launch was in December). St. Joseph Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ St. Joseph Catholic Academy hosted its annual Prayer Breakfast & Fundraiser at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Wednesday morning, featuring Lamar Hunt, Jr. who stressed the importance of Catholic education and urged community support as local leaders and attendees joined in prayer and fellowship. - ➤ Missouri Western State University Workforce Development unveils new training programs to help local business owners and workers; a beginner's course on AI is scheduled for Friday and spots can be registered online. St. Joseph Post
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The St. Joseph Fire Department posted fire safety tips on its Facebook page as colder weather prompts residents to heat their homes. Residents are urged to keep combustible items away from stoves and heaters, turn off unattended appliances, and test smoke detectors regularly. KQ2
- ➤ Jeremi Dierenfeldt, a registered nurse at Mosaic Cancer Center, and his wife Danielle competed in Arnold Schwarzenegger's Pump Club Iron Ticket Contest and met Schwarzenegger when they won the challenge. KQ2
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Andy Carter (Griffon Athletics leader since May 2022) was added to the St. Joseph Sports Commission board to boost local sports and build on his past partnerships with MoWest; he looks forward to fostering new community events. KQ2
- ➤ St. Joseph Defenders Athletic Director Josh Castor leads a homeschool sports program that gives local kids a chance to play competitively with a Christian focus — head coach Matt McCurley urges full participation. The team will host a game at 8 p.m. on Feb. 9 at Eastside Baptist Church. KQ2
- ➤ Stewartsville/Osborn boys beat Albany 54-41 and King City boys overcame Maysville 55-43 in the King City Invitational semifinals held on Wednesday. In girls games, Stanberry beat DeKalb 51-24 while Albany edged King City 41-36; championship games are on Friday, Jan. 30 (8:10 p.m. for boys and 7 p.m. for girls). KQ2
