COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Rolling Hills Library is hosting its third moving sale in St. Joseph to clear items before the Riverside Branch opens this spring. The sale is at (former PepperJax Grill, 1908 N. Belt Hwy) on Friday, Jan. 30, 12:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 31, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.  St. Joseph Post
  • Local female leaders will share strategies to improve women’s lives at the third annual Women's Forum hosted by the Junior League at the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 — with lunch provided and registration due by Feb. 16.  KQ2

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Dance Arts Center's Wizard of Oz show will be performed at the historic Missouri Theatre this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (Tickets are $15 or $20.) The one-hour production uses orchestrated music (a fresh take on the classic story) to engage all ages.  St. Joseph Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri has opened its Scholar-Link online scholarship application for graduating seniors and college or technical school students statewide—applications are due by March 2. Interested applicants can visit cfnwmo.org or speak with their high school counselor for more details.  KQ2
  • Yesterday, the board met to review a contract amendment for remodeling Benton High School classrooms (clarifying fees for extra work) and to update plans for more equitable facilities. Their next meeting is Monday, Feb. 9 at the Troester Media Center.  KQ2

  • The Benton Cardinals remain at No.2 in the Class 4 MBCA Top 10 poll as the Mid-Buchanan Dragons move up to No.2 in Class 3 following Monday’s edition — additional details include Gallatin Bulldogs at No.7 and North Platte receiving votes.  KQ2
