- ➤ MidCity Excellence marked 25 years with its 12th Annual MLK Jr. Solutions Summit Monday morning in St. Joseph, featuring food, music, and guest speakers. The youth-run event drew 165 attendees and aimed to inspire local youth to share their experiences. KQ2
- ➤ The Savannah Parks Board announced the city pool will remain closed for the 2026 season as officials plan a major renovation for under a million dollars. Over 500 donors backed the project and a trivia night at Clasbey Community Center on March 21 — professionals target a Memorial Day reopening. KQ2
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MoDOT began roadwork on Jan. 19 in Northwest Missouri with several route and bridge closures for maintenance that will extend into 2026. Motorists should check for schedule changes if inclement weather arises. St. Joseph Post

- ➤ Nominations are open for the 2026 St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame, with eligible nominees having a Buchanan County connection through birth, sports career or current contributions. - ➤ Lafayette Fighting Irish girls basketball team is now ranked No. 1 in the Class 4 poll from the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association released on Monday (Jan. 19), despite losing 60-46 to Benton in the tournament championship. The next poll will come out in two weeks. KQ2
