- ➤ Saint Joseph's Pet Pantry Program will shift to a drive-up clinic format beginning Feb. 1 to distribute donated pet food & supplies to local families facing financial hardship. The first clinics are scheduled for Feb. 9, March 9, and April 13 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ MidCity Excellence is facing a funding gap after losing about $7,000 from its federal DEI support, which has been vital for its free after-school and summer programs in St. Joseph. The nonprofit will form a volunteer fundraising team and launch a food truck entrepreneurship program (a step toward future support). KQ2
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ St. Joseph Retro Con will take place from May 2 to May 3 at Civic Arena, returning after a successful inaugural year with a larger venue and more pop culture stars. Popular figures like Paul E. Niemeyer and Kevin Clash will appear to connect fans with their childhood favorites. KQ2
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ North Central Missouri College in Trenton released its Fall 2025 Honor Lists, naming students on the President's List with a perfect 4.0 GPA and a minimum of six credit hours, while Dean's List students must reach a 3.5 GPA (62 are from St. Joseph and 37 from Savannah). St. Joseph Post

- ➤ St. Joseph students formed the Student Voice Alliance (15 youth representatives) during the second Student in Government Day held Jan. 15 at emPowerU. City Manager Mike Schumacher said the group will meet monthly at City Hall to advance student ideas, with their next meeting scheduled for Feb. 11. St. Joseph Post
- ➤ The City of St. Joseph is launching a new parks and recreation safety program to improve park lighting + increase patrols and upkeep, aiming to reduce crime and address concerns found in a recent survey. KQ2
- ➤ Former Platte County Commissioner John Elliott announced his bid for Missouri House District 13 today to succeed Rep. Sean Pouche; he aims to bolster local law enforcement, reform property taxes, and protect farmland across Platte and Buchanan counties. St. Joseph Post
